ITINERARY

DAY 1: CUSCO – KM 88 – URUBAMBA RIVER – PATALLAQTA – WAYLLABAMBA

Very early, we´ll pick you up at your hotel and, a group tourism transportation vehicle, we´ll take you to Ollantaytambo, where you´ll take a train to Km. 88 of the railroad tracks (Pisqaccucho – Chilca) which is the trek´s starting point. There, our guide will introduce you to the agency´s support staff that will take care of the catering and transportation of the kitchen and camping gear, as well as of our luggage, during the hike.

Then, you will get registered, with your passports, or identity documents, at the Inca Trail´s Entrance Checkpoint. Afterwards, the first part of the day´s hike runs along the Urubamba River, to the Incan Architectural Complex of Patallaqta, where you´ll have lunch and, in the afternoon, you´ll cross the Wayllabamba Valley, to get to the campsite, where you´ll have dinner, and will spend the night.

DAY 2: WAYLLABAMBA – WARMI WAÑUSQA´S MOUNTAIN PASS – PACAY MAYO

Today, the challenge will consist in an ascent to the trek´s highest point, called ‘Abra de Warmi Wañusqa (Dead Woman´s Mountain Pass), at 4,250 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l. – 13,943 ft.), from which you´ll be able to contemplate the snowcapped mountain range that borders the Inca Trail. Afterwards, you´ll proceed along the Pacay Mayo Valley, to the Pacay Mayo Campsite.

DAY 3: PACAY MAYO – RUNCURACAY – SAYACMARCA – PHUYUPATAMARCA – WIÑAY WAYNA

In the morning, you´ll ascend to Runcuracay which is an Incan enclosure, at 3,700 m.a.s.l. (12,139 ft.), and then, to Sayacmarca; another Incan architectural compound. There, you´ll be on a unique ecological level, in the world, where you´ll have chances to observe a broad biodiversity, in which orchids and birds stand-out.

As you´ll see, all along today´s hike, the Incan path, on which you´ll be walking, is ‘inlaid’ in the mountain slope, all the way to Phuyupatamarca (Urban center above the clouds). Then, you´ll descend, along unending stone steps, to get to the Wiñay Wayna Campsite, where you´ll have dinner, and will spend the night.

Afterwards, you´ll have some free time, to stroll around the archaeological complex, before boarding a tourism bus, down to the pedestrian village of Machupicchu Pueblo (ex Aguas Calientes), to have lunch.
