OVERVIEW

DAY 1: Cusco – Chinchero  – Moray & Salineras – Ollantaytambo  – Machu Picchu

ITINERARY

DAY 1: Cusco – Chinchero  – Moray & Salineras – Ollantaytambo  – Machu Picchu

Your yourney beings with early morning pickup fron hotel in Cusco for a full day exploring the legendary Secred Valley of the Incas. your first stop is in Chinchero, a charming Andean village where a colonial church still stands atop the formations of an original Inca temple, and local weavers continue centuries-old textiles  tradition.

From there, you’ll visit Moray, a remarkeble archaeological site of circular terraces omce used by the Incas as an agricultural laboratory to experiment with crops across different microclimates just minutes away lie the Maras Salt Mines, more than 3,000 individual salt pools that have been in continuous use since pre-Inca times — one of the most photographed sites in Peru.

Following a free timelunch in Urubamba not included, so you can choose according to your budget), you’ll spend the afternoon exploring the town and fortress of Ollantaytambo, one of the few Inca urban  centers still inhabited today. from  here you’ll transfer to the train station for journey to Machu Picchu Town (Aguas Calientes), where you’ll spend the night (acomodation not included0) surrounded by mointains and the sound of the river.

DAY 2: Aguas Calientes  – Machu picchu – Ollantaytambo – Cusco

Today is the day you’ve  been waiting for. Early on the morning, a short 30 minute bus ride takes you up the mountain to the citadel of Machu Picchu. With a professional guide, you’ll spend approximately two hours exploring the sanctury’s most icnic sections: The main plaza, the Temple of the Sun, the enigmatic Intiwatana stone, the Temple of the Three windows, and tha agricultural Terraces- with about 1.5 hours of walking throughout the site.

Afterwar, you’ll have free time to explore endependently, capture the photos you’ve always dramed of, or – if  booked in advance  – climb Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mouentain for even more spectacular viws (aditional cost applies). you’ll then descend  to Machu Picchu Town, with free tome  for lunch and stroll, before returning by train to Ollantaytambo and continuing by bus or van back to Cusco, arriving in the evening.

DAY 3: Cusco  – Cusipata – Rainbow Mountain(vinicunca) – Cusco

Experience one of Peru’s most breathteking natural wonders on this Rainbow Mountain day trip from Cusco. Departure is very early (approx 4:30 am) with hotel pickup  for the transfer to cusipata, the starting point of the trek. The drive takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours each way (8 hours round trip).

From there,  a scenic hike of about 1.5 hours leads to the viewpoint of Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), standing at 5,200 meters (17000 ft) above sea level and famous worldwide for its natural occurring mineral-striped colors. Enjoy free time to take phoros and soak  in the breathtaking Andean scenery before beginning journey.  Lunch (not included) is taken  along the way, with arrival back in Cusco around 5:0o p.m.

DAY 4: Cusco  – Andahuaylillas – Raqchi – Pukara – Puno

Travel the classical route of the Sun (ruta del sol) fom Cusco tu Puno by tourist bus (aproximately 11 hours of total travel time) with scenic  stops and guided visits along the way:

  • Andahuaylillas – known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Amercas” for the stunning frescoes of its colonial church.
  • Raqchi – in Inca archaeological complex dedecated to the good Wiracocha, home to the remains of the largest temple ever built by the Incas.
  • Pukara – a pre-Inca culture site featuring important stone and ceremonial artifacts.

A buffet lunch is included along the route arraive in the lakeside city of Puno, gateway to lake Titicaca by late afternoon.

AY 5: Puno  – Uros Islands – Taquile island

Set seil on lake Titicaca, the highest navigable  lake in the world, with hotel pickup for a motorboat journey to the Uros Floating Islands, handcrafted from totora reeds, where you’ll dicover the way of life of this culture  firthand.

Continue sailing {aproximately 6 hours of total navigation time) to Tkile island, recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity for its exceptional textiles artistry. of lake Titicaca, and  time to learn about local Andean cusctoms.

In the afternoon, return to the Uros islands for a unique overnight homestay experience, living alongside of a local family -tradicional dinner and breakfast includes as part of this immersive cultural encounter.

AY 5: Uros  – Puno  – Departure

After breakfast onthe island, return by boat to Puno. Final transfer to the airport or bus terminal, according to your onward travel plans.
